Deborah Schwartz is an independent consultant, focused on good governance, community partnerships, and mission driven program planning for nonprofit cultural institutions. She is recognized nationally for her leadership skills, and her ability to transform organizations from dust-covered to bright-- infusing institutions with the voices of communities who have all too often been left out or made to feel invisible.
Schwartz has built organizations that are known for their creativity, intelligent and caring staff, dynamic programs, and engaged trustees. She takes an activist approach to programming and has been recognized widely for her ability to build sustained and meaningful community alliances.
She has worked with large and organizations and small, serving as CEO, Advisor and in various senior staff positions. She has created award winning education initiatives, programs, and exhibitions; raised millions of dollars; and shepherded strategic plans and mergers. She has also served on numerous nonprofit Boards, and consulted with foundations, museums, and corporate clients.
